Cyclist Rolls into Cafe Venture

Professional cyclist Sam Volkers has secured retail premises in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley for a new café and bike shop venture called Espresso Rouleur.

Espresso Rouleur (English translation Wheeler) has leased a 170 sqm commercial building at 9 Prospect Street, Fortitude Valley, in a deal negotiated by Steve Black and Ricci Missen of Ray White Commercial Pine Rivers.

Mr Volkers, a professional road racer with Queensland-based Team Down Under (TDU), is refurbishing the Prospect St building before opening the café and bike shop.

Mr Black said the building was currently a “bit of an ugly duckling” but would be rejuvenated as Espresso Rouleur.

Fortitude Valley is immediately north-east of the Brisbane CBD and is one of the focal points of the city’s nightlife and renowned for its nightclubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Café Rouleur has taken up a five year tenancy.
